Last week, our team had the opportunity to attend the Microsoft 365 Community Conference in Orlando. There were a few themes that came through loud and clear across keynotes and sessions.
If there’s one headline from this year's Microsoft 365 Community Conference, it’s this:
AI is no longer a future concept, it’s here, and organizations are actively figuring out how to use it in real, practical ways.
Here are a few of the biggest takeaways from some of the main speakers.
AI Is Reshaping How We Work (Jeff Teper)
Jeff Teper, President of Collaborative Apps at Microsoft, focused on the broader vision for Microsoft 365, and it’s clear that AI is no longer just a feature layered into tools like Teams or SharePoint. Instead, Microsoft is rebuilding the modern workplace around AI.
The message wasn’t about shiny new features. It was about a fundamental shift:
Workflows are becoming AI-assisted by default
Collaboration tools are evolving into intelligent systems
Productivity is becoming more personalized and automated
We’re not just adding AI to our work, we’re starting to redefine how work gets done.
From Copilot to Agents (Ryan Cunningham)
Ryan Cunningham highlighted one of the most important evolutions happening right now: the move from AI assistants to AI agents. There’s a big difference. Copilot helps you write an email or summarize a document. Agents, on the other hand, can execute tasks, automate workflows, and operate in the background.
This shift moves AI from “Helping you do work” to “Doing work with you (and sometimes for you)”
The real value of AI isn’t just speed, it’s automation. And that’s where organizations will start seeing meaningful ROI.
AI Without Governance Is a Risk (Vasu Jakkal)
Security leaders like Vasu Jakkal emphasized repeatedly across sessions that AI adoption without governance can create serious risks. As organizations roll out tools like Copilot, they also need to think about:
Data access and permissions
Compliance and security frameworks
Responsible use of AI-generated content
Because the reality is that AI is only as safe as the data it has access to. In essence, speed matters, but control matters just as much.
Where Sovereign SP Comes In
This is exactly where we see organizations getting stuck.
Not because the technology isn’t available, but because:
Workflows aren’t clearly defined
Data isn’t structured for AI to be effective
Teams aren’t trained or aligned on how to use it
Governance hasn’t been established
At Sovereign SP, this is the space we operate in every day.
We help organizations:
Build structured, scalable workflows using tools like SharePoint, Power Apps, and Power Automate
Centralize and organize data so AI tools like Copilot can deliver value
Design systems that support automation, not just manual processes
Implement governance frameworks to ensure security and compliance
Because AI doesn’t fix broken processes, it amplifies them.
Reach out to start organizing your data.
